The Director General of Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), Oludolapo Eso – Ajanaku, has issued a stern warning to all outdoor advertising practitioners in the state to desist from using substandard materials in the construction of advertising infrastructures, such as billboards, eye-catchers, uni-poles among others.

The DG gave the warning during the on-sites inspection conducted by the agency’s monitoring and enforcement team held within Ibadan metropolis.

While expressing absolute dissatisfaction with the recurring incidence of collapsed of advertising structures, Eso – Ajanaku highlighted the potential hazards these incidences pose to road users and the public.

He stressed the necessity for outdoor advertising practitioners to adhere strictly to the usage of high-quality construction materials and standards to ensure the safety and integrity of installed billboards.

He said, “The safety of our citizens and the reliability of our advertising infrastructures are paramount.

“OYSAA is dedicated to enforcing laws and regulations against the use of substandard materials in the erection and maintenance of advertising structures to protect public safety and maintain order in the state.

“Any negligence of advertising infrastructure by practitioners could result in significant fines and potential site revocation.”

Hon. Ajanaku commended the collaborative efforts of Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYRTMA) and other government safety and security agencies in restoring normalcy to the affected areas in the city of Ibadan.

The monitoring and enforcement exercise done by the team was in line with the rapid response to news of collapsed eye-catchers that caused significant traffic disruptions in the city of Ibadan during an early morning rainstorm that occurred recently.
