Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said his administration will continue to prioritise security and strengthen security architecture in the state in order for the massive economic development ongoing in the state to continue.
The governor stated this on Saturday, at a dinner organised in honour of the members of Syndicate 5 of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 19, of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), held at the Local Government Training School Hall, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde, who was represented at the dinner by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, noted that the effective collaboration and synergy among security agencies had been instrumental in sustaining peace and safeguarding lives and properties of the people in the state.
He thanked the team for choosing Oyo State for their study tour and equally commended them for their successful and outstanding performances during the short period of their visit.
Earlier in his remarks, the Syndicate Supervisor, Mr Julius Obukohwa, said the visit had contributed immensely to the Syndicate’s knowledge on governance, security issues and safety of the environment.
He lauded Governor Makinde’s administration for supporting the security agencies in the state with adequate gadgets to enhance their performances and tackle crimes and insecurity.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, represented by Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin; the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Coordination, Major Gen. Lukman Omoniyi (retd); and the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Wole Akinleye, congratulated the Syndicate 5 on the successful completion of their study tour.
They charged the members of the Syndicate to make judicious use of the experiences gathered to improve the security sector.
The event had in attendance the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Hon Williams Akin-Funmilayo; Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola; Chairman of Ilaji Group, Engr Dotun Sanusi; Permanent Secretaries; Service Commanders, and religious leaders, among other dignitaries.
