A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Adeniyi Akintola has said that there are only two universities in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan and the rest.
This, according to him, is because the University of Ibadan made him what he is today, having obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science and an LLB from the University of Ibadan.
Chief Akintola said UI has outgrown Ibadan and even Nigeria and has become a global brand that deserves to be celebrated.
Chief Akintola spoke at his decoration as a UI@75 Ambassador in Ibadan.
He disclosed that the fact that he is an alumnus of UI helped him to make an inroad into the international community when he wanted to open his South African office.
In response to the requests of the University, Chief Akintola said he empathizes with indigent students because he was an indigent student himself.
He disclosed that he had over the years extended assistance to indigent students and was willing to extend it to more students.
He immediately made an initial donation of Ten Million Naira to the University.
Chief Akintola was supported by his wife, Honourable Justice Boyede Racheal Akintola of the Oyo State Judiciary, members of his Chambers and his political associates.
