Old Girls Association of St.Theresa College, Ibadan has announced the passage and funeral of a former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the school, Sis Agnes Mary Hassan, who passed at 87years old.

Making the announcement, the BOT Secretary, Otunba Ranti Koiki said the deceased, was an ex-student, an ex-teacher who also rose to become a principal in the school and worked for 35years before retiring.

Describing the late Sister Agnes as a woman and mother with a heart of bouquet of scented flower, Koiki said the deceased spent all her life grooming thousands of girls who have grown to become great wives, mothers and captains of industries across all human endeavours.

She said the deceased will not only be remembered for her legacies of building and grooming girls into womanhood and champions of today, but also her passion at leading the Old students at impacting and improving their alma mata.

Koiki said “She was very passionate, loving, forgiving and a life teacher. She was somebody who did so much, she impacted thousands of girls because I wouldn’t know the number that passed out of St. Theresa College but I’m sure of thousands of girls.

“She was not only a teacher, she was a mentor, she was a spiritual leader and a God fearing woman from whose heart endless love flows. She radiates so much love. She gave so much attention to grooming girls making us what we are today.

“She raised lovely, well behaved women who are now very important in the society. She was the best anyone could have had as a mentor because the type of education we got through her was classy.

“The teachings, the morals, the upbringing and her behavior is worthy of emulation because she never gets angry and she’ll always teach you to manage your ‘judasis'”.

Giving the details of the funeral, the BOT Secretary disclosed that “on the 14th of June, there will be a requiem mass at the Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Ilupeju, the church where she worshipped before she died.

“On the 20th, we will be coming to Ibadan to say final bye bye to our mama and it’s easy because we are sure that she’s in the right place with God but we are going to miss her. Anytime we have a function in St. Theresa College and we mention that Sis Agnes is coming, her name attracted thousands of people. The final funeral Mass is 21st June at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bashorun, Ibadan.”

Speaking of the virtues learnt from the deceased, Koiki said “She didn’t take life too seriously. If you report anything to her she’ll just say, that’s women for you. She was a very positive minded person. She was very resolute, very resilient and like I said before, dynamic and she knew what she was doing.

“It’s very good to have a leader, a mentor, a mother or somebody whose head is quick in the right direction. Despite being a nun, she loved life. She enjoyed herself. Her best music was ‘chop my money’. She never drank, she never smoked and whatever. And we think that Sister Agnes was a saint. She was a living saint. She was faultless.

“We cannot replace her. We can just put somebody in her position as BOT Chairman, she is irreplaceable. It is a collosal loss. She was 87 which is old enough to die, but she didn’t look like she was going to die. She was looking fresh and agile. An 87 years old woman who was still doing her laundry, cleaning her room and every point in time, her room was like a hotel room, sparkling and she was doing it herself.”
