Oba Ghandi states vision for Ogbomoso as OCC presents development blueprint

The recently coronated Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Laoye on Tuesday said his overarching vision for Ogbomoso is to create the enabling environment that would attract huge, modern a d sustainable development in an even matter.

 

To achieve the feat, the monarch said he will strengthen Ogbomoso’s areas of comparative advantage by investing to develop key values chains in human and natural resources.

 

This is as a non-profit and non-political entity, Ogbomosoland Consultative Council (OCC) presented a developed blueprint dubbed “Ogbomosoland Development Programme Agenda”, to the monarch.

 

Oba Ghandi spoke shortly after his investiture and adorning with sash as the Grand Patron of the Ogbomosoland Consultative Council (OCC).

 

The event which held at the Aafin Ogbomoso was part of the official congratulatory visit of the OCC to the palace. It was attended by notable sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland.

 

Some of the dignitaries who are also members of the OCC include; Dr Saka Balogun, Maj. Gen. Oladayo Popoola (Rtd.), Maj. Gen. Braimoh Yusuf (Rtd.), Engr Dayo Lawal, AIG Olasupo Ajani (Rtd) and AVM Jacob Bolaji Adigun (Rtd).

 

Others are: former Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare, AIG Shehu Babalola (Rtd), Adebayo Bankole, Senator Ayo Adeseun, Amb Akin Oyateru, Mrs Bimbo Oladeji, a retired Professor of Education, Alice Jekayinfa, Olusegun Adekunle and Adesola Adepoju among others.

 

The monarch said “My overarching vision for Ogbomoso is to create the enabling environment that would attract huge, modern and sustainable development in an even manner. In this process we shall strengthen our areas of comparative advantage by investing to develop key value chains in our human and natural resources.

 

“In addition, we shall create new opportunities for investment through the deployment of technology, knowledge and skills. To this end, I have also stimulated an economic blueprint document which I hope would meet yours at critical points for the benefit of our people.”

 

Oba Ghandi commended the vision of the late Soun for bringing the OCC model to reality saying “It has helped tremendously to channel our efforts in the right direction and has also developed a good network that has become our net worth. I plan to retain the model and even make it work better in keeping with the emerging realities.”

 

Speaking earlier on behalf of the visitors, Ambassador Akin Oyateru said the Ogbomosoland Consultative Council (OCC), registered as an Incorporated Trustee under the CAMA as a non-profit and non-political entity has metamorphosed into an all-inclusive, non-political policy, advisory and development focused body, in keeping with the vision of the immediate past Soun, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi.

 

He added that the OCC developed the blueprint dubbed “Ogbomosoland Development Programme Agenda”, because the “leadership and members are quite aware of the need for economic regeneration through massive investment in industrialization, value addition of natural resources, technical training and skills acquisition, empowerment of critical sections of society, re-inculcation of social values, enhancement of dignity of labour, promotion of peaceful coexistence and harmony.”

 

He reiterated the readiness of the Council to working with the monarch to achieve a better developed Ogbomosoland.
