Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has sympathized with the Chairman of Fresh FM, Chief Yinka Ayefele and the management of Fresh FM, on the Friday night fire incident, which affected some segments of Fresh FM Headquarters in Ibadan.
The governor described the incident as unfortunate, noting, however, that he was thankful to God that no life was lost to the inferno.
He urged Ayefele, who he described as his brother and friend, to take heart and remain strong as he has always been, as according to him, “this too shall pass and Fresh FM will bounce back better and stronger.”
The Nation reports that the fire incident which happened late Friday night damaged the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, offices, newsroom, transmitter/server room, destroying several equipment while the station was in operation.
Confirming the development and extent of damage, the Group Head of Corporate Affairs, Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, Samson Akindele said despite efforts to combat the blaze with in-house fire extinguishers before professional firefighters arrived, the intensity of the flames made these attempts futile.
Noting that although, no life was lost, the full extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are yet to be determined.
Alkndele said, “The management of Fresh FM Nigeria is saddened to announce that its head office in Challenge, Ibadan, was ravaged by a devastating fire incident on the evening of August 15, 2025.
“The fire severely damaged the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, as well as adjacent offices, including the newsroom and transmitter/server room, destroying several equipment while the station was in operation.
“Despite efforts to combat the blaze with in-house fire extinguishers before professional firefighters arrived, the intensity of the flames made these attempts futile.
“The full extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are yet to be determined.
“The management extends heartfelt gratitude to good-spirited Nigerians, residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service who assisted in fighting the inferno.”
