ICRC: Oyo govt disburses additional N200million in compensation

Oyo state government has released an additional N200 million as compensation to residents affected by the ongoing Ibadan Circular Road project, bringing the total compensation so far to nearly N1billion.

The announcement was made during a meeting with some property owners at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, where affected residents gathered for the latest update on the compensation process.

Speaking, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to alleviating the impact of the project on affected communities noting that the latest disbursement marks the fourth round of compensation, focused on residents in the Odeyale area of Ona-Ara local government.

He emphasized that Governor Seyi Makinde led administration is determined to ensure that all impacted individuals are duly compensated.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the state government’s transparency.

In their separate remarks, Mr. Adekunle Bolaji and Mr. Dauda Jimoh described the compensation as a welcome relief that will help them rebuild their lives.

The Ibadan Circular Road project is a flagship infrastructure initiative aimed at decongesting the city and stimulating economic development across Oyo State.
