Palatial stage, heavy drum beats, colorful outfit, shots from daneguns, anxious onlookers, drinks vendors, heavy decorations, busy roads, bystanders, massive projector screens, heavy security presence, canopy and tents of different types, shapes and sizes best describes the mood at Mapo Hall, the venue of the coronation of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The much anticipated event peaked a series of activities which started with the official opening of the ultramodern and historic Olubadan Palace, located at Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
Although the weather which looks cloudy initially is beginning to clear off as signs of sun is emerging.
Corenews reports that markets and shops in the capital city did not open for business at the time of this report. The move is in compliance with a directive from the state market leadership that markets should close between 7AM and 2PM in honor of the new Olubadan.
Weather notwithstanding, dignitaries have began to arrive the venue of the historic event.
The list of prominent individuals who are already seated include: the Oyo state Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, Ondo state Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who is represented by his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, Sulltan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola.
The role call also include traditional rulers from withing and outside the state, community leaders, prominent indigenes of the state, top government functionaries among people are already at the event.
The gathering awaits the arrival of the Olubadan-designate and the Governor for official commencement.
