Alaafin: installation rites enter last lap as Oba Owoade receives Sango crown

The last lap of traditional rites (Oro Ipebi) for the Alaafin elect, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade 1, holds tonight at the Sango shrine,, Koso,, Oyo town.

A release by the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin of Oyo, Bode Durojaiye, said Alaafin Owoade, who will be accompanied by members of the traditional council, the Oyomesi, princes and princesses from all the royal families, traditional religion priests, the Baales (village heads), and cross section of residents,

According to Durojaiye, the monarch will sleep over at the shrine where he will be worn with the Sango crown by Baba Mogba in the early morning of Saturday, as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

Immediately after the wearing of Sango crown, everybody present at the historical event, including the Oyomesi members will prostrate and say Kabiyesi to the Alaafin.

The rite, it was gathered peaked the ongoing rites of the monarch as the Alaafin of Oyo.
