Amidst the ongoing political realignment in Oyo State, some members of the House of Representatives who recently defected from the Governor Seyi Makinde faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) over the weekend paid a solidarity visit to the Chairman of the Ladoke Akintola Airport Upgrade Committee, Bimbo Adekanmbi in his private residence, Ibadan
Adekanmbi has allegedly been annointed by Governor Makinde as his preferred successor during a recent high-level stakeholders meeting.
Neither Makinde nor the party leadership has make open confirmation of the selection of Adekanmbi.
But, the visit is seen as a huge boost for the gubernatorial aspiration of Governor Seyi Makinde-backed Adekanmbi.
It was gathered that the meeting which took place at the private residence of the former commissioner of finance on Saturday saw all five of the six members of the Federal House of Representatives in attendance.
It would be recalled that nearly five days ago, in a meeting with Governor Seyi Makinde and critical stakeholders in the State, the choice of the former deputy chief of staff to late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi was said to have been announced as the successor of the governor in 2027.
A source privy to the meeting, Akinkunmi Akinpelu John in his social media post said, the meeting and declaration of support for Adekanmbi’s candidature by the members of the APM House of Representatives in Oyo State became necessary as it signals the direction the governor wants the people of the state to go in the 2027 general elections.
The members of the APM House of Representatives who were said to be in attendance at the meeting include Hon. Dhikirulahi Stanley Olajide, popularly called OdidiOmo (Ibadan South West/Ibadan North West); Hon. Abass Adigun Adekunle also known as Agbowórin (Ibadan North East/South East); Hon Sunday Folajimi Oyekunle, A.k.A Don (Ibadan North Federal Constituency); Hon. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju (Ibarapa North/Ibarapa Central); and Hon. Shina Abayomi Oyedeji, (Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency).
