The Ibadan Mega Voice (IMV) has marked its 3rd anniversary by distributing 1,000 free exercise books to students in four public schools across Ibadan, Oyo State capital. The beneficiary schools are Urban Day Grammar School, Elekuro; Ekekuro High School; and Omoyeni Memorial Primary Schools 1 and 2, both located at Adesola, Orita Aperin, Ibadan.
The outreach, held on Friday, aimed to support learning and encourage academic excellence among schoolchildren in the city. IMV President, Aare Kola Olomide, said the initiative was part of the group’s commitment to giving back to the community and promoting quality education in Ibadan.
“Education is the foundation of a progressive society. Our decision to distribute free exercise books is driven by the desire to motivate young learners, especially in public schools, to take their studies seriously,” Olomide said. He added that the gesture was one of several programmes lined up for IMV’s anniversary celebration.
The teachers and headteachers of the beneficiary schools expressed appreciation to IMV for the gesture, describing it as timely and inspiring. They noted that many pupils in public schools often struggle to afford basic learning materials and that such interventions make a significant difference.
IMV, a group of professional media practitioners, including musicians and entertainers of Ibadan origin, has been promoting civic responsibility, education, and cultural pride among the people of Ibadan. The book distribution exercise reaffirms its vision to build a more enlightened and empowered community through collective action [6].
