Insecurity: Oyo flaunt Amotekun, security architecture

Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade has called for more vigilance about the security situation in neighbouring Kwara.

He spoke on the heels of recent massacre at Ifelodun local government of Kwara state over the weekend, saying the development is very troubling and should be tackled decisively”

He however assured the people of Oyo State on the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure a secured environment for all and sundry, particularly with the security network codenamed Amotekun Corps, which he described as the most fortified in the region.

He said, “The good news for our people in Oyo state is that this administration has been very proactive in matters of security.

“Apart from active collaboration with law enforcement agencies including but not limited to the Army, Airforce and the police, Amotekun in Oyo state remains the most fortified in the Southwest.

“It has 181 vehicles and 450 motorcycles and over 2, 500 staff, the largest in the Southwest.

“The state Executive Council led by Governor Seyi Makinde has also approved the procurement of two aircrafts manned with surveillance modern equipment to assist Amotekun in it’s efforts to monitor the movements and activities of terrorists and illegal miners and continue to protect lives and properties of oyo state citizens.”
