After a wide consultation with leaders, stakeholders and people of good conscience and in reaction to insincerity, divisiveness and lack of trust and integrity by the promoters of the event, we hereby formally announce the withdrawal of *the peace- loving people of Modékè Quarter of Igboho* from the Igboho Day 2026 celebration.
Our intention to be part of the program ab initio, was to contribute our own quota to the progress, unity and development of our fatherland, as enshrined in the ideas of the Landmark Group and to use our resources and service to build cohesion and harmony in Igboho, unfortunately, some forces have a different agenda far from uniting the community, by preserving the ugly status quo, at all cost.
1. The entire process of preparation has been laiden with turbulence and divisive engagements capable or damaging the community further, instead of uniting it.
2. The process is driven majorly with opaqueness and lack of transparency, especially by the chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC) and a few others who feel they are more Igboho than all of us. Funds and procurements processes are never handled with transparency and decisions are taken unilaterally.
3. A sofisticated game plan to humiliate our leaders and royal fathers, has already been completed waiting for implementation at the appropriate time, on that day. We refuse to be part of any arrangement that will bring our highly referred traditional institutions into disrepute.
4. More disturbing, is the desperation of the chairman of the CPC, who does not mind destroying his own integrity, by altering and tampering with people’s goodwill messages and making the entire program printing, a one-man business. Several demands to avail the draft of the event programme booklet to the appropriate committee failed, mainly because everything has been doctored in a manner to mindlessly cause fatal embarrassment and eternal injury to our people and the entire Igboho community. It is simply noble to refund people’s money if they are not qualified to be part of the celebration than to criminally destroy their thoughts, beliefs, heritage and identity, by using them to promote ideas that are not theirs.
5. All these are in total negation of the ideas of the The Landmark Group (TLG) that we tioled so much to build with the core mandate of uniting our community, sadly the chairman of the TLG, due to his reference to a higher authority than what we all share and lack of purposeful leadership, has lost a lifetime opportunity of rewriting our history as a people. It is indeed a sad page in the book of our history.
6.*The people of Modékè Quarters of Igboho* hereby announce her withdrawal from the event and we have decided to keep this in the storage of posterity.
We warn the planners to avoid the crime of using people’s identity to promote ideas that they do not believe in, such as using their names , messages, images, videos or any form of content or information, to perpetuate illegal and illegitimate actions. As such actions shall be met all necessary reactions, litigation inclusive.
We shall continue to move on, on our hunger for an Igboho that will be suitable for all, in truth , justice and love, irrespective of their faith, geography of birth, personal convictions and creed
