More than 60 traditional rulers from different parts of Yorubaland under the aegis of Yoruba Obas Forum are currently meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
The meeting, it was gathered is the first Annual General Meeting of the Forum since it was started in 2019.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun was represented at the event by the Asiwaju Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Ademola Adelade.
The Timi of Ede, Oba Nurudeen Lawal was the Chairman of occasion.
Welcoming the monarchs to the meeting in his address, the Interim President, Oba Samuel Adeoye, the Molokun of Atijere Kingdom said the gathering is aimed at reviewing developments that occurred since the last meeting among other several lingering action items.
The monarch said the level of bastardisation of Yoruba tradition, customs and culture is alarming and required team work and commitment to checkmate, calling on all traditional rulers to take the lead.
He added that the activities of some sons and daughters as well as some royal fathers are inimical to achieving some objectives, adding that something tangible must be done before it’s too late.
A communique is expected to be issued after the meeting.
