We must support our leaders spiritually to govern well – Bishop Adelakun

The Presiding Bishop, Victory International Church, Oluyole, Ibadan, Victor Adelakun on Monday said, for political leaders to govern well, citizens and residents must support them spiritually.

This is as he called for more prayers and a combination of spiritual and physical forces to overcome insecurity and other challenges facing the country.

The Cleric made the call during a press conference to herald hile the commencement of the annual convention of the church, slated to hold from August 3 to 10, 2025 at Wonder City, Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ibadan.

He said, the Victory convention, with the theme: ‘’All Things New’’, will be featuring massive salvation, deliverance, breakthrough, divine healing, word, worship, and others.

He said some of guest that will be ministering include: the National President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Pastor Poju Oyemade, Pastor Yemi Davies, Apostle Emmanuel Iren, Pastor Dolapo Adelakun, among others.

He said the country must seek spiritual assistance and pray for the people on the job so that it could overcome its problems.

Adelakun said for the commencement of the annual convention every year he sought the face of God for the theme, saying it aligned with the theme of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

The cleric said, ‘’It means God is aware of the situation people are passing through, only those who overcome can experience new things. We have to be on the same page with God. It will start with walking in righteousness.

“Our nation is riddled with all kinds of things. It seems the leadership is perplexed, they don’t know what to do. We need to turn to God. Anywhere there is unrighteousness, there will be trouble. We need more prayers. We need to pray more.

‘’For the sake of the prayers of the saints, Nigeria would have ceased to exist. Efforts should be backed up with prayers. There is a need for collaboration between the spiritual leaders and the government.

“Security men are doing a good job, but they need more prayers. There must be a synergy between the spiritual and physical efforts. There must be a combination of both forces’’.

He added that there were provisions for logistics, buses, accommodation and free meals in the afternoon for those coming for the convention.
