A 200-level student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University (TECH-U), Ibadan, Tiamiyu Akinwale has emerged the third runner up among 13 global innovators who participated at the Falling Walls Lab competition, organised by the Falling Walls Lab in Germany.

Competing against innovators from across the globe, Tiamiyu presented his initiative, Teentronics—a project that trains teenagers (ages 10–18) in hands-on STEM by transforming local tools and discarded materials into innovation opportunities.

Out of 72 applicants, Tiamiyu advanced to the final stage and ultimately emerged as the 3rd runner-up among 13 global innovators who made the final shortlist.

The milestone comes shortly after another outstanding achievement by Miss Daniella Abimbola Kolade, a 400-level Computer Science (Software Engineering) student, who, in September 2025, led her team to victory at the IoT & AI for Black Swan Events Boot Camp, held at Bio-Medico University, Cambridge, United Kingdom, where her group won the overall project competition.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Adesola Ajayi on behalf of the University management, congratulated both students, commending their brilliance, resilience, and creativity.

He said the remarkable feat highlights both the students’ ingenuity and TECH-U’s culture of practical innovation.

He noted that the recognitions reaffirm TECH-U’s vision of producing globally competitive graduates who can provide innovative solutions to real-world problems.

“These successes not only elevate TECH-U’s reputation as a hub for science, technology, and innovation but also serve as an inspiration to other students to embrace opportunities, compete with confidence, and make their mark on the global stage”, the VC noted.
