Poly Ibadan renaming: Oyo deputy governor, officials meet student leaders behind closed doors

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal has led other government functionaries to meet student union leader of The Polytechnic, Ibadan behind closed doors.

The meeting which is currently ongoing at the Conference Room of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) was called by the government following the protest embarked upon by the students following the renaming of the institution by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Other top government functionaries at the meeting includes: the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security, CP Sunday Odukoya, Commissioner for Education, Segun Olayiwola, Chairman, Oyo State Youth Development Agency, Prince Falana Adebowale, the Senior Special Assistant on student Affairs, Victor Olojede.

Corenews reports that the protest brought about temporary shutting down of activities in the institution as the main entrance gates were shut down while the student express displeasure at the government decision.

As the meeting continues, it remains unclear if an immediate decision would be taken or not, as the Governor is currently outside the state on official engagements
