No fewer than 200 farmers have been empowered with cash and tools for their occupation by the lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Akinmoyede Olafisoye.
The number comprises 90 fish farmers and more than 100 general farmers who plant various food and cash crops.
Before the empowerment, the beneficiaries were also trained on modern trends on their various farming occupations.
At the training programme which held at Faith Joe Event Centre, beside Community Secondary School, Alegongo, Ibadan, Hon. Olafisoye popularly called “Lafi” equally empowered each of the fish farmers with N100,000 cash, fish feed, species and plastic tank to raise their fish.
He said the effort was in continuation of the empowerment programmes of the lawmaker targeted at providing economic succour for his constituents.
The farmers equally got fertilizers, maize, beans seedlings, and several farm implements which include brush cutters, knapsack power sprayers, seed planters, farm tiller, among other agricultural implements.
Corenews reports that the lawmaker had earlier on Thursday announced N1.5million scholarship for 30 students of Community Grammar School. Lalupon who will be writing their WAEC examination in the year 2025 where he assured his constituents of his resolve to continue to bring more democratic dividends to their doorsteps irrespective of their political affiliations.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker said the motive behind all the interventions he was doing is to provide both community infrastructures and stomach infrastructure for the people considering the present economic situation that is biting hard on the people.
In his remarks at the event, the Oyo Central senatorial Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji said he was surprised and happy to see a first time lawmaker at the House of Representatives like Hon. Lafi having sequential and series of empowerment from time to time to better the lots of the people he is representing.
In their separate remarks, some of the beneficiaries of the empowerment including Agboola Abayomi (from Ward 4 in Ejioku Lagelu local government), Oduola Sefiu (Ward 5), Adebiyi Oluwakemi (from Ward 5 Akinyele LG) and Adigun Michael all lauded Hon. Olafisoye for being passionate about the welfare of the people that elected him.
While commending him for doing a great job, they hinted that what the lawmaker was presently doing has never been done by any of the past lawmakers that had represented the constituency before him.
Others in attendance were the Chairmen of APC in Lagelu and Akinyele local governments, Mr Awoyoola Sunday and Emmanuel Akinboade, representatives of selected schools, community and religious leaders and others.
