Oyo declares Friday public holiday to mark hijrah 1447AH

Oyo State government has declared Friday, June 27th a public holiday to Mark a new Islamic Calendar year, Hijrah 1447AH.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo made the announcement in a circular, dated June 25, 2025, signed and issued on Wednesday.

The circular with the title: “Declaration of work free day to mark Hijrah 1447AH” reads in part “The Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has declared Friday, 27th June, 2025 a work-free day in the State, to commemorate and celebrate the new Islamic Calendar year (Hijrah) 1447AH.

“His Excellency also enjoined all and sundry to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity and prosperity of the State in particular, and the Country in general.

“Kindly give His Excellency’s approval, hereby conveyed, the widest circulation it deserves.”
