…As Board Chair tasks varsities, researchers on development, team building, job creation

The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora has secured the re-accreditation of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
It would be recalled that the NBTE official had visited the institution in April 5, 2024 for re-accreditation exercise.
The Director, OYSCATECH Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme Dr. M.M. Sodiq revealed that Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora was among the 17 tertiary institution that just got NBTE approval for SIWES programme.
In the same vein, the Chairman, Governing Council of the College, Prof. Lateef Sanni has charged lecturers and researchers in tertiary institutions across the globe to explore the vast opportunities that can be harnessed through research development in order to advance themselves and their institutions.
Sanni who is the Executive Director for Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute gave the charge during an online webinar organized by the Directorate of Research Innovation and Linkage Programme (DRILP), Federal University Oye, Ekiti on Tuesday.
The webinar, titled; Knowledge Production, Diffusion and Sustenance: The Application of Inter/Multi-Institutional Collaboration and Opportunities for Research Grant in Nigerian Universities had FUOYE Vice Chancellor in attendance.
Prof. Sanni revealed that Universities generate knowledge that are useful in diverse fields of learning and endeavour, adding that knowledge is generated through research.
He called on universities to solve global challenges, equip graduates with skills, increase production and ensure job creation through collaborations with stakeholders and regular research activities.
He further advised on the need for lecturers and researchers to work on themselves, make impact in the global space through research, in order to showcase themselves and their institutions.
He said, “Research should be handled as business, while the generation of innovative technologies require critical knowledge production, diffusion and sustenance.
“Knowledge cannot be diffused, if researchers failed to work with their communities; Universities or researchers cannot afford to work alone but enhance team building in order to gain success.
“Stakeholders in the universities have major roles to play therefore, as you are showcasing your institution; you are also showcasing yourself.”
