About 200 students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State have stormed the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The students who arrived in three coaster buses and three hummer buses were said to have embarked on the trip to protest and secure the release of about 72 students of the University arrested by the operatives of the Commission.
The Nation gathered that some operatives of the EFCC allegedly raided two hostels in Oduduwa Estate around 2AM, on Wednesday.
No fewer than 72 students were said to have been arrested during the operation and taken to the Zonal Command, Iyaganku, Ibadan
Sources said six medical students were among the arrested students.
A student who narrated the incident to The Nation accused the EFCC operatives of damaging the Close Circut Television (CCTV) cameras stationed in the facility before carrying out the operation.
The students are being led in the protest by the leadership of the Student Union Government.
One of the leaders, a medical student said it has been confirmed that six members of the medical Association were arrested saying about 72 students of the institution were arrested in total.
It was gathered that sporadic gunshot hit the airwaves as soon as the students arrived the Commissions office.
