Olubadan: Mapo Hall comes alive for coronation of Oba Ladoja

Preparations are in top gear for the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the ancient city comes alive with activities ahead of the celebrations.

From major markets to neighborhoods, residents have been expressing excitement, describing the occasion as a historic moment in the cultural calendar of Ibadan.

The atmosphere across the city is already buzzing with anticipation as colorful decorations, banners, and billboards adorn strategic locations, while traditional drummers and cultural groups prepare to add glamour to the festivities.

Many residents say the coronation anniversary not only reaffirms the cultural heritage of Ibadan but also provides an opportunity for unity and celebration.

Meanwhile, traffic in several parts of the metropolis has been heavy, with some roads experiencing gridlock due to diversions and preparations at key venues.

Security operatives and traffic officers have been deployed to ensure orderliness, while residents are being advised to plan their movements ahead of the event.

When Corenews visited the venue on Thursday, tent makers who have been busy erecting the stage since Tuesday we’re still very busy trying g to perfect the job.

Many hands were also seen busy fixing and erecting the structures to give a perfect creation.

Little decorations were already been put in place on the parts that have been fixed at the venue.

The venue and the adjourning streets are already been taken over by heavy security presence, including officers of the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Police among others.

Despite signs of the weather getting ready to pour down rain any moment, those working at the venue were undeterred in ensuring a perfect job.

Some Ibadan based media houses, particularly radio stations who are to provide live coverage of the event were also seen at the venue taking position. Some of those already on ground at the venue include: Solution FM, 32FM, Agidigbo FM, Splash FM, Dominion FM among others.

Oyo State owned broadcast outfit, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) have also arrived the venue with their Outside Broadcasting (OB) Van, to begin set up.

Other television stations including: Channels TV, Arise and TVC are also expected as some of their crew members have already arrived the capital city to provide coverage.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Road Traffic Management (OYRTMA) and Amotekun Corps were also seen on roads leading to the venue.

The 44th coronation anniversary of the Olubadan is expected to draw dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond, including traditional rulers, political leaders, and cultural enthusiasts.
