The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa has said there’s no need for anyone to take to the street in protest because President Bola Tinubu is restructuring the country bottom in a very strategic manner.

This is as he said that in a matter of few years, Nigerians will not need to ‘japa’ of think of leaving the country as many of the ongoing reforms would have been yielding the desired results.

He spoke with journalist on Tuesday, shortly after inaugurating The Thompson Abayomi Oshin Physiotherapy Building donated to the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI).

Alausa who represented President Bola Tinubu at the event commended the donor who also turned 98years and marked the celebration with the donation appealed to all Nigerians to emulate the foremost Physiotherapist and his family in supporting government in its Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said “Let me talk to Nigerians about this impending people saying they want to protest. There’s no need to protest. We have a president, President Bola Tinubu that is restructuring this country bottom up in a very strategic manner. The president has done so many things that no president in the history of Nigeria in the last 45yrs.

“The president when he came in, he spoke to Nigerians on May 29th at the inauguration day, he said I will not deceive you Nigerians. I’m here to serve you, I’m your servant. I’ll be honest with you in everything I do and that’s why the president took the bull by the horns. Rome was not built in a day.

“We have to take difficult decisions for a better tomorrow. For the future of our children and that’s what this president has done, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You know what happened to our exchange rate. Scam going on for decades. The president fixed it. We were subsidizing fuel with money that we didn’t have, no president for fear of it’s not politically right, they just didn’t do it.

“This president knew what he had to do to set this country on the part of sustainability and he has done that. Now you talk about banditry, security is better in the country now. Are we where we want to be? No, but significantly better, roads are being constructed all over the country.

“Now a lot of input are being given to farmers. Farmers are been fred from banditry. They can go back to the farm. We’re getting fertilizers to them, food stuff are being distributed all over the country. Let me be clear to Nigerians, inflation is everywhere in the world, food prices are high everywhere in the world. It’s not only Nigeria.”

He said further, “The president in his innovating creation, in the wisdom that no president has done for 40 to 50 years started denominating the purchase of our crude oil in Naira. Before every year, we were spending $7.9billion, 30% of our forex used to import petroleum in the country.

“With the new changes that the president made into the country to denominate the sales of crude oil to dangote oil in Naira, we’ll be spending just $660million dollars a year. That is saving of about $7.3 billion. We’ll have more foreign exchange forex to service other things. The value of Naira will get stronger.

“That will now translate to prices of food getting cheaper. So it takes a creative person, a genius to do this things. This president cares about the country. Please don’t let saboteurs who want to cause political chaos deceive you. Elections were done, one of the fairest election in the country was done by this president. If anybody wants to be president, let him wait to 2027 and come and contest. You should not try to deceive our innocent citizens to go on the street to protest. There’s nothing to protest for. This country in the right direction

He said by the time all the efforts and foundation of development been laid for the country begins to materialise, citizens of the country will not want to go out and seek any greener pastures elsewhere.

Speaking on the project, Chairman, Thompson Abayomi Oshin Foundation (TAOHEF), Dr Segun Oshin said they embarked on the project to honor the father in response to a request from the College of Medicine, UI.

He said “What motivated this, our father is the first ever African Physiotherapist and he started the Physiotherapist training in Nigeria. So we are children of a very well renowed physiotherapist and even at the College of Medicine, UI, he was the one that started the department and so when the College came to the family to ask to support the building that would enhance the development of physiotherapist and will support the idea of moving physiotherapy from a department to a faculty, we supported the idea and we tried our best.”

Highpoint of the event was the cutting of the 98th birthday cake of Professor Thompson Abayomi Oshin. It was also the last public function for the Provost, College of Medicine, UI whose tenure expires on Wednesday, July 31st
