Following the approval of N80,000 as the new minimum wage for workers in the State, the Oyo state Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Kayode Martins has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as his magnanimity and care for the workers.
He said the governor has again showed that he is a listening person and a true trailblazer, saying it is the first time Oyo State workers will be earning more than their federal workers counterpart.
When contacted, Comrade Martins assures the governor that the workers will reciprocate the gesture by improving their productivity, saying the approved minimum wage is a huge morale booster.
He however appeal to members of the government team in the negotiation to show same magnanimity by allowing for good consequential adjustment so that all workers across the board will partake of the Governos milk of human kindness.
He thanked the workers for showing understanding and solidarity since the journey of the minimum wage started, urging them not to disappoint the system that is showing concern for them per time
He assures the government of the commitment of the labour leaders in the state to partnering, encouraging and supporting course that improves and impact positively on the workers in the State.
The Nation reports that the Oyo dtate government on Wednesday announced the approved of a minimum wage of ₦80,000 for the state workforce.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, in a statement said the Technical Committee set up by the state government recommended and got approval from Governor Seyi Makinde for the implementation of the new salary scale.
He added that the new scale will be implemented as soon as the consequential adjustments process is completed by the committee which comprises of government and labour top officials.
