OYSCATECH Students, Student Union Leaders, Students Electoral Committee (SELECO) and Stakeholders in the just concluded Students’ Union Government Election held at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora on January 4, 2024 have commended the Management of the institution for maintaining its ground about the use of internet electronic voting as against the previous use of intranet voting which require students’ physical presence for screening and voting at the ICT centre through Local Area Network.
The team of experts at the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Centre of Oyo State College of Agriculture were also applauded for deploying a secured server and application for the electronic voting.
Speaking on the assessment of the election, the Students’ Union President, Com. Taofeek Ashiru, the SELECO Committee Members and agents at the collation centre described the new technology as the best, stress free, hitch free, fair and transparent.
Com. Ashiru who could not hide his joy explained that the short notice, poor orientation and fear of hackers informed their initial agitation for the old method of electioneering.
He therefore appreciated the Management for her position on the adoption of modern technology which promoted the peaceful conduct of the election.
The acting Director of ICT, Mrs Oluwatoyin Adeagbo who described ICT job as a team work thanked the Management of the institution and other team players as well as the ICT personnel for their the commitment in ensuring a hitch free election and credible SUG Election.
In the same vein, election into the Students’ Union Government Offices of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora held on January 4, 2024 for 2023/2024 has been rounded up.
Com. Ayoola Daniel Richard who contested for the office of the President scored a total vote of 271 to defeat two other contestants, Ismail Fawas Olayinka who scored 262 and Bello Naailu Adeboye who had 237 votes.
For the Office of the Vice President, Yushau Memunat Opeyemi emerged winner after pulling 492 votes to defeat the other contestant, Kareem Ridwan Adekunle who scored 278.
For the office of the Assistant General Secretary, Com. Orimakinde Jamiu Olalekan who was the only contestant for the position pulled a total vote of 487 and was declared winner.
Salawu Adeola Faith, who contested for the office of the General Secretary pulled a total vote of 365 and was declared win against her counterpart who scored 314.
For the office of the Treasurer, Makanjuola Saidat Nike pulled a total vote of 400 and emerged winner ahead of two other contestants, Ariyibi Quyum Akorede who pulled 246 and Bello Jamiu Adesola who had 76 votes.
Com. Okunlola Taiwo Israel scored 404 to emerge winner for the office of the Auditor, while Muraina Abeeb Ademola scored 345.
Com. Saka Abdlmalik Teniola won with total votes of 421 while his counterpart, Ayankojo Ayanbanjo lost after pulling 230 votes.
Com. Rafiu Ridwan Olamide who vied for the office of Sport Director 1 was declared winner with 419 votes as against his counterpart, Com. Ojelabi Juwon Precious who scored 334 votes.
For the office of Public Relations Officer II, Adewuyi Azeezat Busayo scored 280 votes to defeat Olaniyan Abass Adesola who had 224 votes and Adetunji Adesola Awall who pulled 203 votes.
Other contestants who were declared winners unopposed were Com. Kayode Sunday Michael for Sport Director II after pulling 362 votes, Com. Busari Abeeb Ayinde pulled 492 votes and was declared winner for the office of Financial Secretary, while Com. Shittu Mohammed Babatunde scored 484 votes and was declared winner for the post of Public Relations Officer 1.
Also, Com. Abiola Korede Azeez who contested for the post of Social Director 1 pulled 450 votes and Com. Adeleke Ikmot Oreoluwa for the post of Welfare Director 1 had 465 votes, both of them were declared winner, unopposed.
While addressing the agents at the ICT Centre of the institution which served as the collation Centre, the Students Electoral Committee Chairman, Balogun Akinkunle, appreciated the Management, Students Affairs Directorate, Students populace and the team of experts at the ICT Centre, led by Mrs. Oluwatoyin Adeagbo for the professional competence and the technology deployed for the Internet electronic voting.
The Seleco Chairman declared the election as free and fair while advising other institutions of higher learning to emulate Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.
