Makinde’s Security Adviser raises team on safe handling of harmful substances

The Office of the Special Adviser on Security to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has established a secretariat for the public to interface and share information with it on handling and storage of harmful substances within Oyo State.

 

The secretariat, located at No 2, Oba Akenzua Crescent, Onireke, Ibadan, will be open to the public for the purpose of information and engagement on the subject matter.

 

The office has equally opened an email address, declarenow@oyostate.gov.ng, urging members of the public to use the platform to engage with the government on the issue.

 

A memo by the Special Adviser on Security, CP Fatai Owoseni (rtd), indicated that the office has also constituted a Task team of experts from relevant security agencies to execute the obligations of Executive Order No 001 of 2024 on the Safe Handling and Storage of Harmful Substances with Oyo State.

 

According to Owoseni, the steps were taken for the purpose of guidance of the populace and the concerned persons.

 

Recall that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde had, on 31st January, 2024, signed the Executive Order to regulate the handling and storage of harmful substances in the state.

 

The order mandates all residents and companies in the state, in possession of harmful substances of any kind that can be detonated by pressure, heat, impact trigger, fuse, proximity, timing device, remote control or howsoever to immediately notify the Special Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State on Security of such possessions.

 

The order also compels those in possession of such substances to provide a comprehensive inventory detailing the type, quantity and precise location of such items.

 

In addition, they are to furnish the Office of the Special Adviser with relevant licences or permits held as well as security measures in place for storage and handling.
