In his remarks shortly after signing the document, Governor Seyi Makinde thanked the lawmakers for the diligence and effort at giving the budget an accelerated hearing noting that the state has been able to show the importance of collaboration between the legislature and executive as arms of government.

Governor Makinde said he will pass the budget as a demonstration of peace with the lawmakers urging the House to reciprocate the gesture with support and collaborations.

He said the 75 percent performance of the 2023 budget is a good development but will be targeting at least 80 percent performance for the 2024 budget.

He also appealed to labour unions and other critical stakeholders to support the government in implementing the budget.

He said the Appropriation Bill got accelerated passage without compromising standard, thanking Governor Makinde for presenting what he described as a realistic budget.

Noting that all the Committee members and other lawmakers worked round the clock to ensure early passage of the 2024 Appropriation Bill, the Speaker said the House has keyed with the four cardinal focus of the state government.

Hon. Ogundoyin said the house made some upward review of the 2024 Appropriation Bill to reflect the current economic realities and situations in the country, and to cater for some critical sectors.

The event which held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan was attended by top government functionaries among others.
