Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is set to coronate the new Eleruwa of Eruwa, Prince Adebayo Adegbola.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made the disclosure on Monday, saying the grand ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025.
He noted that the coronation ceremony has been confirmed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo.
Prince Oyelade said the appointment of Prince Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa is a reaffirmation and dedication to preserving Eruwa’s cultural heritage and also to foster unity among its people.
He said, “Beyond its ceremonial significance, the coronation symbolizes the collective commitment of the community to honoring its historical roots and traditions.”
The Commissioner enjoined everyone, including residents and stakeholders to actively participate in the ceremony, emphasizing that the event will further strengthen communal ties, leading Eruwa into a future of growth and prosperity.
Corenews reports that, Governor Makinde, earlier in March approved the appointment of Prince Adegbola as the new Eleruwa of Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo state.
The stool of Eleruwa has remained vacant following recent legal proceedings, specifically the dismissal of Suit No. HER/10/23 by the High Court of Oyo State on October 22, 2024.
The last Eleruwa, Oba Adegbola, was installed in 1998 but deposed on the 29th of November, 2019, by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
