The Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese Dr. Williams Aladekugbe has called on Christians to stop living what he described as “dual lifestyle”, but commit themselves to the service of living God through Jesus Christ.

He gave the charge in a sermon during the Diocesan Board meeting held at the conference hall, Diocesan Headquarters, Moyede, Ibadan on Thursday.

He said, “Stop deceiving yourselves,on Sundays or other Christian events, you show yourselves as angel, but outside the church, you are something else, that’s dual life. Know that you can’t serve God with mammon.”

Drawing his Biblical references from Matthew 4: 18-22 and Romans 12: 1, Archbishop Aladekugbe said God is all knowing, and He knows everyone from the beginning to the end.

“He needs your total commitment so as to reap all the benefits attached to true Christian life”, he added.

The cleric used the occasion to remind Christians to observe this Lenten period which calls for soberness, humility, repentance, assistance to the poor masses and love for one another.

According to him, “This is the better period to pray for our leaders that God will give them right sense of direction, protection of life and property and lead the country in accordance to the constitution they swore to uphold.”

He assured the leaders and the led that if they obey God’s commandments, they don’t have anything to fear but instead lead a life of plenty and still inherit the heavenly kingdom.
