The Vice Chancellor, Lead City University (LCU), Ibadan, Professor Kabiru Adeyemo has said for Ibadan land to attain its greatness and full potentials, key institutions and community stakeholders must partner the government across all spheres of development.
Particularly, he said socio cultural organisations such as Ibadan Country Club, Omo-Ajorosun in collaboration with local clubs, associations, and leaders of thought leaders must play pivotal roles in driving sustainable growth across the social, economic, and entrepreneurial landscapes.
The Don gave the charge while delivering his speech at the 30th Anniversary celebration and award Ceremony of Ibadan Country Club over the weekend.
He spoke on the topic: “Ibadan Country Club at 30: celebrating a legacy of social unity, cultural heritage, and sustainable community development in Ibadanland.”
The event which held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan had in attendance: Deputy governor of Oyo State, Bayo lawal, President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Sulaimon Ajewole, Senator Sarafadeen Alli, Chief Adegoke Adegboyega, Prince Yemisi Adeaga among others
Giing his remarks, Adeyemo who is the Chairman, Committee of Vice Chancellors and Registrars of Private Universities in Nigeria said through a firm embrace of transparency, accountability, and inclusive collaboration, stakeholders hold the potential to propel Ibadanland to new heights, setting benchmarks in excellence, innovation, and civic responsibility.
He said, “The advancement of Ibadanland requires more than just government initiatives, it calls for a united and deliberate effort from key institutions and community stakeholders.
“Organizations such as the Ibadan Country Club, Omo-Ajorosun in collaboration with local clubs, associations, and thought leaders, play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth across the social, economic, and entrepreneurial landscapes.
“By empowering local talent, fostering investment, and promoting unity through cultural and educational programs, these bodies serve as catalysts for Ibadanland’s transformation into a leading force in Western Nigeria.”
He charged the leadership of Ibadan Country Club ad well as other socio-cultural groups to note that role they have to play in the journey of developing Ibadan to its full potential is not onlybstrategic but symbolic.
“As leaders of the esteemed Ibadan Country Club, your role in this journey is both strategic and symbolic. The commitment you affirm today goes beyond mere participation, it is a pledge to lead with integrity, vision, and a dedication to the collective well-being of our society.
“Your leadership must embody the principles of corporate governance and public service, ensuring that the club’s influence continues to uplift the broader community.
“Through a firm embrace of transparency, accountability, and inclusive collaboration, you hold the potential to propel Ibadanland to new heights, setting benchmarks in excellence, innovation, and civic responsibility.
“Together, let us forge a future that mirrors our shared aspirations and steadfast dedication, making Ibadanland a beacon of development and good governance for the entire nation.
“Celebrating 30 years of the Ibadan Country Club is not merely marking the passage of time, it is a tribute to a legacy of purpose, resilience, and unity.
“The Club has stood as a pillar of cohesion, a sanctuary for culture, and a vehicle for meaningful progress. As we turn the page to the next chapter, we must remain dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking, preserving our legacy while expanding our impact for the greater good of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria”, the Don added.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of award of academic excellence to the Adeyemo amongst other dignitaries.
