The President, Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS), Ogbomoso, Oyo state, Professor Ola Ayankeye has said the time has come when everyone should work hard to restore the glory of the nation, assuring that Nigeria will rise again in all ramifications.

Calling on all political office holders and all others in government to be more intentional in ensuring restoration of economic, social, educational vibrancy in Nigeria, the Professor, Pastoral Care & Counselling Psychology, however stressed that more efforts should be directed to ensuring security of life and property so that dwellers in Nigeria will experience a conducive atmosphere to face their work with peace of mind.

The Don gave the charge while addressing a press conference to herald the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS) 2025 Ministers’ Conference, themed “The Gospel Minister and His Relationships”, scheduled to hold from September 8 to 11, 2025, at the NBTS Alumni Multipurpose Hall, Ogbomoso.

Speaking on its purpose, he said the conference aims to enhance peaceful coexistence in homes and society by examining the theme from various perspectives, adding that the event is expected to provide a platform for spiritual renewal, continuing education, and fellowship among gospel ministers.

According to the NBTS President, the conference will feature a range of activities, including bible teaching, African praise, hymn singing, instrumentals, messages, group discussions, intercessory prayers, witnessing, and a football match.

Keynote speakers expected at the conference include, President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and Visitor to the Seminary; Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji; immediate past Vice President (Ministerial) of Nigerian Baptist Convention; Rev. Dr. Dickson Madogwe, amongst others.

He called on all gospel ministers, including church pastors, specialized ministers, evangelists, and missionaries, to participate in the event.

Professor Ayankeye said, “The theme “The Gospel Minister and His Relationships” is relevant to the current situation in Nigeria where some gospel ministers are found to be deficient in their relationship with God, family members, and ministerial colleagues, among others. The resultant effect is tension in intra-personal, interpersonal and human divine relationships.

“The theme shall be examined from various perspectives with the hope of enhancing peaceful co-existence in the home and society, which is major part of the mission of the Seminary.

“Therefore, we call on all political office holders and all others in government to be more intentional in ensuring restoration of economic, social, educational vibrancy in Nigeria.

“More efforts should also be directed to ensuring security of life and property so that dwellers in Nigeria will experience a conducive atmosphere to face their work with peace of mind.

“The citizenry should also be law abiding and be praying for our leaders regularly. Time has come when everyone should work hard to restore the glory of our nation, Nigeria. Nigeria will rise again in all ramifications.”

Corenews reports that the NBTS, established in 1898, is one of the oldest and most respected theological institutions in Nigeria. With its rich history and commitment to theological education, the Seminary continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of gospel ministry in Nigeria and beyond.
