Some children who were on admission at some private hospitals following the stampede at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, venue of the aborted Children Funfair have been discharged on Thursday.
Also, parents have been reporting to the hospitals to claim the corpse of their children.
Corenews reports that more than 35 children were confirmed dead after a stampede at the venue.
The event, organised by a non governmental organisation, WINGS foundation was widely promoted by an Ibadan based radio station, Agidigbo FM.
An ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Prophetess Naomi Silekunola runs the Wings Foundation.
The event had targeted 5,000 children with a promise of free food, gifts and N5,000 for every child in attendance.
Oyo State Police Command on Thursday said it has arrested no fewer than eight persons in connection to the incident.
It also confirmed that 35 children died while six others are critically injured and on various medical interventions.
Corenews had reliably reported 32 death and many injured from the incident.
The list of those in Police custody included, the organiser of the event, an ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Fasasi Abdulahi, Genesis Christopher, Tanimowo Moruf, Anisolaja Olabode, Idowu Ibrahim and Abiola Oluwatimilehin.
When Corenews visited the venue of the incident, security operatives were still seen within and around the perimeter. Activities around the venue had continued with many business owners operating unhindered.
Pockets of women and children were still spotted in the vicinity while the relics of cloths, rags, separate pairs of shoes, sandals, slippers, bags, used nylon bags etc still littered there entire space.
The chairs and canopies staged had been removed while the white plastic chairs were still spotted stacked in batches.
Corenews also visited some hospitals where some of the children were taken on Wednesday.
At Patnas Specialist Hospital, Oluwo Kekere, Bashorun, it was gathered that the two children who were resuscitated had been discharged.
Also, the two remaining corpse of children at the facility had also been picked up by the parents.
However, it was gathered that the parents of the deceased children were allowed to take the corpse, against government directive, when late Wednesday night, they threatened to make trouble with the owners of the hospital facility, if the corpse were not released to them.
It was confirmed that four children were brought in dead at the facility on Wednesday.
At other hospitals visited, it was gathered that the corpse of children have also been collected by the parents after proper verification.
When Corenews visited the Adeoyo Specialist Hospital, Ring Road, Ibadan, it was gathered that from an anonymous source that about 20 children were brought in dead (BID) on Wednesday.
As at Thursday, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Council (CMAC) of the hospital, Dr Adeoye Allen-Taylor told Corenews that four children are still on admission and responding to treatment at the facility.
Although, he refused to confirm or deny the death told or record of death in the facility, the CMAC explained that no although no one brought to the facility has been discharged, he assured that they will be discharged as soon as they are medically fit to go.
However, one of the parents of the children who is receiving treatment who spoke on the condition of anonymity said he regretted attending the event but thanked God that her three and half year old son is still alive.
She said she will never attempt attending such an event again, even if lured with gift of one million Naira.
