Group donates drugs, kits, other materials to inmates at Agodi Correctional facility

Group of men from different walks of life under the aegis of ‘Men on the Move Conference’ has donated drugs, medical kits and other items that will help in treatment of the inmates at the Agodi Correctional Facility, Agodi, Ibadan.

 

The items, which runs into hundreds of thousands include anti-malaria drugs, antibiotics, injections, syringes, nose masks, kits and other materials that would be of benefits to the inmates.

The Visioner and Convener of the group, Revd Gbeminiyi Eboda who led the delegation to the facility said the effort is in furtherance of the goals of ‘Men on the Move’, with the aim to help men rise, thrive, and lead.

 

He said the visit was borne out of the passion to help, contribute to the well-being of the inmates, and be a beacon of hope to them.

 

He noted that the items donated were based on an earlier requisition of the Correctional facility.

 

The cleric, while making the presentation said ‘Men on the Move Conference’, will not shy away from identifying with men in whatever situation, lamenting that men are becoming endangered species.

He said that the reason for the attack of the devil on this generation is the failure of men, adding that if the man is fixed, the society will be fixed.

 

The Controller, Agodi Correctional Facility, Assistant Controller of Corrections, Jelili Odunlami in the company of other officers of the facility, welcomed the delegation.

 

The visibly elated controller expressed delight that the team of ‘Men on the Move Conference’ came with essential drugs.

 

While thanking Revd Eboda and the delegation, the Correctional facility boss spoke on the state of the facility and other areas of needs which are open for support from individuals and groups.

 

The areas include vehicles, electricity, alternate power generation, learning and education facilities including volunteer teachers, health facilities and personnel, pro-bono representations in court, payment of fines and legal fees, beddings among others.

The Controller led the team on tour of the Facility, after which prayer was made for the community.

 

Responding, to the requests, The Revd Eboda promised to look into other areas of need and make a return to the facility soon.

 

It would be recall that Men on the Move Conference made her launch on Saturday, 8th June, 2024, Ibadan with a highly impacting meeting that focused on ‘Men, Means and Dreams’. The meeting was adjudged the largest single gathering of men ever in one place and programme.
