Suspected gunmen have reportedly attacked the National Park Service, Oloka, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
At least five personnel of the park were said to have been killed by the yet-to-be-identified attackers.
It was gathered that the attack occurred at about 9PM on Tuesday.
As of the time of filing this report, the bodies of the victims are yet to be recovered, as they are believed to be located within the surrounding forest area.
When contacted, the Oyo Police Command confirmed the attacked but could not confirm the number of casualty.
The Command’s Spokesman, Ayanlade Olayinka said the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna and other service chiefs are currently on their way to the location.
He disclosed that tactical teams, Mobile Police Force officer of the NPF and EOD have been deployed to the affected area, on the orders of the CP to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
Olayinka said, “Yes, there was an attack by yet to be identified men against the men of the national park.
“The Commissioner of Police Oyo State Police Command and other service chief are currently on their way to the location meanwhile the Commissioner of Police Oyo State Police Command, CP Femi Haruna have deployed Tactical teams, Mobile Police Force officer of the NPF and EOD to the affected area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.”
