A financial expert, Mr. Kabiru Adeniyi Adisa, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for reducing the number of vehicles in ministers’ convoys.
Adisa , who is the President-General of Charitable Youth for Nation Building Initiative, said it was heartwarming that the President had taken another bold decision in order to optimally manage the nation’s resources.
Adisa, a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), gave the commendation, on Friday, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It would be recalled that President Tinubu on Thursday restricted Ministers, Ministers of State, and Heads of Agencies of the Federal Government to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys.
“In the face of these challenges, it is heartening to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu take bold and thoughtful steps to address this issue. Among his recent actions, the directive limiting ministries to a maximum of three vehicles in their convoys stands out as a clear and commendable effort to curb wasteful spending. This initiative is not just symbolic but a reflection of the president’s commitment to effective governance, resource management, and the welfare of the nation”, Adisa said.
The President of an Osun State-based charitable organisation added that the move was a testament to the president’s understanding of the pressing need to reallocate resources in a more impactful manner.
“The move to limit the size of convoys, among other measures, is a testament to the president’s understanding of the pressing need to reallocate resources in a more impactful and responsible manner. In a country with significant infrastructure, healthcare, and educational needs, every naira saved from unnecessary expenses could be redirected to critical areas that directly benefit the people”, he said, adding that: “the initiative resonates deeply with the call for prudence in public office, a cry that has echoed from the streets to the highest levels of leadership. It demonstrates that President Tinubu listens to the yearnings of Nigerians and is ready to take action”.
Speaking further, the financial expert said: “It is no small feat to implement policies that require sacrifice from those in positions of power, but President Tinubu has shown that his administration is willing to lead by example.
“By reducing the extravagance traditionally associated with government convoys, the president has not only cut costs but also promoted a culture of humility and service. This decision aligns with his broader vision of creating a more accountable and transparent government, one that places the needs of the populace above personal comfort and status”.
He therefore urged Nigerians to continue supporting the president as he takes bold actions for the betterment of the nation, saying: “Together, we can build a Nigeria where governance is not synonymous with excess, but with service, humility, and accountability”.
