A dentist, Dr Folarin Akinsiku has called on healthcare professionals, investors, and entrepreneurs to look beyond traditional roles and embrace innovative solutions that can transform healthcare accessibility and efficiency.
He made the suggestion in his new book entitled “International Framework for Investing In healthcare”.
He noted that the healthcare sector is at a crossroads, where innovation, investment, and policy must converge to address the critical gaps in healthcare delivery worldwide.
In the book, Dr Akinsiku presented a case for strategic investments in global healthcare, arguing that governments alone cannot meet the growing demands of modern healthcare systems.
An MBA student with a strong focus on healthcare business models and market dynamics, the author provides a well-researched and insightful exploration of investment opportunities in the field.
According to him, the book delves into key areas such as infrastructure development, medical technology, telemedicine, and specialized care services—sectors that offer vast potential for both economic growth and improved health outcomes.
He said “One of the book’s greatest strengths lies in its global perspective. It highlights successful initiatives from countries like the UK, India, and the U.S., demonstrating how collaborative efforts—particularly public-private partnerships—can drive healthcare advancements.
“The discussion on telemedicine and digital health is particularly timely, given the rapid expansion of these technologies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“A major takeaway is the emphasis on action. The author encourages healthcare professionals, investors, and entrepreneurs to look beyond traditional roles and embrace innovative solutions that can transform healthcare accessibility and efficiency.
“The book serves not only as a guide but as a call to action, urging readers to engage in entrepreneurial and investment-driven initiatives that could reshape the global health landscape.
“While the book presents strong arguments for private-sector involvement in healthcare, it does not shy away from acknowledging the challenges, particularly in emerging economies where infrastructure and funding constraints persist.”
However, by outlining clear strategies for bridging these gaps, the author makes a compelling case for why now is the time to rethink how we invest in healthcare.
“Overall, International Framework for Investing In Healthcare is an essential read for policymakers, investors, healthcare professionals, and students eager to understand the evolving landscape of global healthcare investment.
“With its blend of expert analysis, real-world examples, and practical insights, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in shaping the future of healthcare”, he added.
Speaking on why he wrote the book, the Dentist said “Drawing from my experience as an MBA student with a keen interest in healthcare business models and market dynamics, I have curated key areas where healthcare personnel and investors can contribute meaningfully.
“This book outlines various opportunities where individuals can leverage their expertise, capital, and innovation to address pressing healthcare challenges.
“Ultimately, my goal is to ignite conversations and empower professionals to see beyond their clinical or academic roles, encouraging them to take on entrepreneurial and investment-driven initiatives that not only improve healthcare delivery but also contribute to economic growth and sustainability in the industry.
“I hope to provide readers with actionable insights and a fresh perspective on how they can play a role in transforming healthcare, whether in their local communities or on a global scale.”
