The umbrella body of socio-cultural groups of Ogbomoso indigenes under the aegis of Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye Home and Abroad on Tuesday said, it is an independent body with legally binding constitution and as such, no individual has the monopoly of power to dissolve it.
The group, while calling for calm among the sons and daughters of Ogbomoso said the clarification became imperative in view of the recent dissolution order issued by the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.
In a statement jointly signed and issued by the trio of Comrade TM Balogun (National PRO Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye), Alhaji Iliasu Jamiu (Ag. Chairman, Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye, Home zone) and Mrs Akintoyinbo Janet (General Secretary, Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye, Home Zone), the group also faulted the timing of the dissolution, noting that it is ill timed and against the spirit of “Omoluabi ” that Ogbomosos are noted for.
According to the group, the dissolution order is coming at the time of mourning of the demise of her National, President, Hon Justice Afolabi Aremu Adeniran (Rtd).
It noted that that, its written constitution, which clearly establishes the foundation of the organization, only recognizes the Soun of Ogbomosoland as the Grand Patron and all Royal Majesties in all the five local government of Ogbomosoland as Patrons of the association.
The statement reads in part, “We extend warm greetings to all our revered monarchs and respectfully appeal to His Imperial Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomosoland Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, our Spiritual leaders and scholars.
“It is important to note that the written constitution of Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye clearly establishes the foundation of our organization.
“With utmost respect to all our Kabiyesis, the Constitution recognizes His Imperial Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomosoland as the Grand Patron and all Royal Majesties in all the five local government of Ogbomosoland as Patrons of the association.
“We sincerely appeal to all sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland to remain calm, peaceful, and law abiding as Ogbomoso Parapo remains steadfast in its commitment to unity, progress and development of Ogbomosoland.
“This statement is not in any way an act of disrespect to the throne of our highly revered Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, the Soun of Ogbomosoland who earlier announced the dissolution of the organization.
“Rather, it is a clear explanation that Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye is an independent organization, established with its own constitution and therefore, no individual holds the monopoly of power to dissolve it.
“Furthermore, the dissolution is coming at the time of mourning of the demise of our National, President, Hon Justice Afolabi Aremu Adeniran (Rtd.)
“It’s therefore ill timed and against the spirit of “Omoluabi ” that Ogbomosos are noted for.
“We once again appeal to all sons and daughters, home and in the diaspora to remain focused, united and active in ensuring the noble legacy of our founding Fathers and Mothers continue to endure for generations to come.
