Former Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Political Affairs, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha has disclosed that the bravery and leadership qualities exhibited by the governor, have made him a better candidate for Nigerian President than any other politician in the whole of Southwest region of the country.
Mustapha said this in a statement he issued in Ibadan on Thursday to mark the sixth year anniversary of Makinde’s administration, adding that the current situation of the main opposition party in Nigeria is not an indication that the PDP cannot snatch power, come 2027.
He described Makinde’s giant strides in developing Oyo State and his contribution to the progress of Nigeria as unequal, calling on Nigerians to look out for real politicians that have their welfare at heart rather than those that have come to power to create suffering for the masses.
“Makinde has distinguished himself as a brave man who exhibits uncommon leadership traits. There is no politician in Yorubaland, apart from Pa Obafemi Awolowo, that had vision for development of the masses and put all his heart to actualizing those visions.
“Urban renewal, education, health and infrastructural revamping are part of where he has scored greatly, not to talk of promotion of agroeconomy, workers’ welfare, unequal employment drive and care for the elderly as well as other neglected population of the State since he assumed office in 2015.
“Come rain or shine, we commit our loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, we urge him to start work towards 2027 because Nigerians are waiting for him to rescue them,” Kunmi emphasized.
The PDP State leader appreciated the efforts of the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Chief Bode George and other national leaders of the party for their painstaking efforts at uniting its members.
