Thirty students of Community Grammar School, Lalupon who will be writing their West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) in the year 2025 have gotten N1.5million as their exams registration fees from the lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Oyo, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede
The lawmaker announced the gesture on Thursday while commissioning a block of six classrooms with furniture which he facilitated to his alma mata.
The building project facilitated by the lawmaker under the 2024 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Special Intervention project is the first of its kind to be facilitated by any elected lawmaker from Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency according to many speakers that spoke at the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Olafisoye popularly called “Lafi” thanked God for giving him the opportunity to fulfill his promise by facilitating the classroom to his alma mater where he graduated in 1989.
He assures that the second phase of the project for the 2025 will be constructed in Akinyele local government, the third for the 2026 will be coming back to Lagelu while that of 2027 will also go back to Akinyele so as to ensure equal distribution of projects through him between the two local government areas in the federal constituency.
He reassures the people of his resolve to continue to bring more dividends of democracy that will positively impact lives and livelihood of his constituents irrespective of their political affiliation.
While commissioning the project, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen expressed happiness and praised the lawmaker for the construction of the classrooms.
He equally pledged to pay for additional 30 students’ WAEC fee for the 2025 examination in the school.
Hon. Mudashiru noted that all elected and appointed political appointees in the federal constituency, particularly Lagelu local, have resolved to work together and put their political differences aside in order to focus on good governance for the people.
Also in his speech, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Akintunde Emmanuel (AKT) explained that Hon. Lafi who he described as his leader in politics has never disconnected himself from the people at the grassroot which explains why he has remained a factor to be reckoned with not only in Lagelu local government but in Oyo state politics as a whole.
In their goodwill messages, the Onilalupon of Lalupon, Oba Munirudeen Arigbabuwo who spoke on behalf other traditional rulers in attendance, the Local Inspector of Education in Lagelu local government, Mrs Kusanu Kehinde, the PTA Chairman in Community Grammar School, Lalupon, Alhaji Sarafadeen Abiodun Otegbeye and other community leaders that spoke at the event attested to the fact that Hon. Olafisoye had been instrumental to so many developmental projects in the school where he graduated many years back.
The event was witnessed by the APC Oyo Central senatorial Chairman, Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji, Hon. Barr. Yemi Aderibigbe, Hon. Mukaila Ambali, Chief Biodun Amoo, Hon. Oyolola Muhammed, religious leaders, community leaders, APC and PDP stakeholders too numerous to mention graced the occasion.
