NALGON Emeritus inaugurates new excos

The Conference of NALGON Emeritus (Forum of former LG Chairmen) has inaugurated its new leadership, headed by Hon. Shabba Ibrahim, to pilot the affairs of the association.

It also approved the constitution of the Board of Trustees (BOT) committee headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, which is aimed at strengthening unity and cohesion at the grassroots level.

The new leadership were inaugurated at the National Conference of the body.

Other members of the executives are Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye (Deputy National Chairman); Chief Osita Ogene (National Secretary), Hon Alhaji Adamu Yahaya (National Publicity Secretary); Hon Gershon Kasuwa (Zonal Chairman North-East); Hon Abdulahi Maikano Chiromawa (Zonal Chairman North-West) and Hon Udoji Okolo Amedu(Zonal Chairman South East) among others.

In his inauguration speech, the BOT chairman, Senator Akume while congratulating the new executive members for being found fit and worthy to be chosen and accordingly inaugurated among the pool of other equally competent and qualified members, admonished the new executive members to form a common front, build unity and politics of onenesss in all they do for efficient service delivery for Nigerians at the grassroots.

He added that there was the need to allow local governments to thrive, noting that this would engender development at the grassroots.

Other members of the BOT are Hon Dr. Aminu Sanni Jaji (Secretary), Senator Abba Moro, Rt Hon Abbas Tajudeen, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Senator Philip Aduda, Senator Godwill Akpabio, Alhaji Idris Gobir, Gov. Peter Mbah, Gov. Hope Uzodinma, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, Gov. Abdulahi Sule, Senator Natasha Akpoti, Gov. Usman Ododo, Ex governor Samuel Ortom, Senator Bukola Saraki, ex governor Ibrahim Idris, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Gov. Bagana Zulum among others.

In his own remark, the deputy national chairman, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye called for unity among members, emphasising the need for cooperation to achieve their common goals at the grassroots.

He also charged the people at the grassroots to be more sensitive and conscious in demanding good governance, projects, programmes and revenue, expenditure monitoring.
