1000 traders get FOHCAF free healthcare in Ibadan

No fewer than 1,000 traders at the Orita-Merin market, Ibadan on Saturday benefitted from a free medical outreach as part of event to commemorate the 10th edition of The Faysol Oluwakemi Annual Health lecture
The event organsied by Faysol Oluwakemi Health Care Forum (FOHCAF) in partnership with the Get Healthy Africa Initiative (GHAi), and support from the Oyo State ministry of Health was divided into three segments health screening, health lectures, and a fitness dance session.
During the outreach, participants received drugs, free medical checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index (BMI) assessments, and hepatitis screening.
The lecture sessions focused on health and wellness, female genital mutilation (FGM), and amplify health information, aimed at improving community awareness and preventive care among traders and residents.
The event had in attendance: the Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Mrs Iswat Ameringun, General Manager of Pensioners FM Ibadan, Prince Babatunde Tiamiyu, friends of Faysol Oluwakemi among others
Speaking at the event, the Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Mrs. Ameringun commended the convener of the initiative for his consistency in promoting community health while urging market traders to prioritize their well-being.
She emphasized that maintaining good health was key to sustaining productivity and family life.
Earlier in his remarks, the convener of FOHCAF, Faysol Oluwakemi noted that the initiative seeks to bring essential health services closer to the people, especially those who cannot afford regular hospital visits, while also promoting preventive health education and lifestyle improvement.
He however appealed to the the general public and market leaders for support to ensure that market health initiatives become a regular occurrence.
Reacting to the health initiative program, traders at the Orita-merin market applauded the organiser for extending the health outreach to them, having missed past editions due to their busy schedule.
They further urged the organiser to come represent Ibadan South West Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
“He is a son of the soil who is concerned about our health and wellness, he is deserving of being our representatives at the State House of Assembly”, Mr Kola Adeoye said on behalf of the beneficiaries.
The Annual FOHCAF lecture is the brain child of Faysol Oluwakemi who has carved a niche for himself in the health journalism sector earning him the title Dokitomoye.
The 10th Faysol Oluwakemi annual health lecture was themed: “A decade of impact: Advancing health information, empowering communities”.
