Tinubu approves upgrade of Ibadan Airport to int’l status

President Bola Tinubu has approved the upgrade of the Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, to International status.

 

The approval follows the request of the Governor Seyi Makinde to the Federal Government in his bid to change the status of the Ibadan facility to global status.

 

Governor Makinde made the disclosure on Wednesday while receiving the Chief of Air Staff of the Nigerian AirForce (NAF), Air Marshall Hassan Baba Abubakar who paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Office, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

 

Makinde assures that work would commence on the project as soon as he gets all the necessary and required documentation perfected from the Presidency.

 

He solicited the input of personnel of the Airforce in the state in ensuring the projects meets the required operating standards.

 

Earlier in his remark, the Chief of Air-Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Baba Abubakar urged Governor Makinde to expedite action on its ongoing 10kilometer Ajia-Airport road to ease movement of personnel who are already relocating to the Air Force base.

 

He also appeal for compensation of local residence of Ajia Airforce Base so as not to hinder performance and activities of the Force.

 

Corenews reports that the Chief of Air Staff is in Ibadan as part of Operational tour to Airforce formations across the country.
