Ibadan explosion: FG delegation to visit scene on Monday

Barring last minute change, a Federal Government delegation will be visiting Ibadan, the Oyo state capital city on Monday.

 

The visit, it was gathered will be to the Old Bodija scene of last week Tuesday’s explosion that rocked the ancient city.

 

According to source in the know, the team will include the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu among other top government functionaries.

 

Corenews could not confirm other prominent individuals that will be part of the entourage and delegation.

 

It was also gathered that the visit will be for an on the spot assessment of the incident, its impact which will guide the Federal Government to making a decision on what form of support and palliative that would be made available for the victims and residents.

 

Corenews reports that the incident that occurred at Dele Oyelese Street, Adeyi Area, Ibadan have as at the last count claimed five lives, houses, vehicles among other property worth hundreds of millions of Naira destroyed.

 

Preliminary investigations fingered dynamite stored up by illegal miners as the immediate cause of the explosion.

 

As at Press time, no arrest has been made as search and rescue efforts enters day six.
