Oyo confident of 2024 budget to improve economy

The Oyo state government has shown its confidence in the 2024 proposed budget, saying it possesses needed ingredients to cushion inflation and sustain the economy of the the state.

 

This was reiterated, on Friday, during the 2024 Budget Breakdown and Analysis event held at the Conference Room, Ministry of Finance, Secretariat, Ibadan, the state capital.

 

The Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, stated that the outgoing 2023 budget of the state had been adjudged better economically as it helped the state in achieving its key pillars by over 70 percent.

 

Babatunde said the 2024 Budget proposal of N434billion would better position the state economically, as it contained the input of citizens, government officials, the executive, as well civil society organisations.

 

He disclosed that the budget dwells on recovery plans towards reviving economic and agriculture units of the state with N1billion and N300 million earmarked to small holder farmers, agribusiness trainees, and small and medium enterprises with singular digits.

 

The Professor of economics affirmed that with the implementation of the 2024 proposed budget, there would be no industrial strike, through the co-operation of civil servants, noting that the state would ensure every taxable entity in persons and organisations are moderately taxed for a sustainable development plan of the state.
