UI decorates Sanusi and Olamitoye as UI@75 Ambassadors

The Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Engineer Dotun Sanusi, rolled out the drums on October 17 to celebrate his 55th birthday.

 

The University of Ibadan joined his teeming well-wishers to celebrate him.

 

The University took advantage of the opportunity to decorate him as a UI@75 Ambassador.

 

The proprietor of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, and Founder of the Ibadan College of Art, Science and Technology, (ICAST), Elebu, Ibadan, is a well acknowledged and successful philanthropist who obtained a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan.

 

Also decorated at the ceremony was a former President of the Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association (ICOMAA), Dr. Abib Olamitoye.

 

Dr. Olamitoye a silent philanthropist had donated generously to the development of the UI College of Medicine as well as the University itself.

 

A prolific writer, proven entrepreneur and successful medical practitioner, Dr. Olamitoye obtained an M.B; B.S and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ibadan. He sits on the Board of Management of many enviable business concerns.

 

Dr Olamitoye is being ably represented on the UI@75 Anniversary Committee and he has agreed to be one of the Commencement Speakers at the 2023 Convocation ceremonies of the University of Ibadan.

 

The University expects the Ambassadors to leverage their business and social contacts to help the University scale up its Endowment Fund; provide funds to carry out research and innovation for national development; upgrade its infrastructure; and provide alternative energy.

 

The University of Ibadan also seeks funds to provide scholarships for excellent, and indigent students, as well as improve staff development and mobility.
