A former Nigerian Ambassador to Singapore who is also aspiring for the ticket for the Oyo South Senatorial District, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Akinremi on Sunday said he has given his consent to the party’s decision to endorse a current member of the House of Representatives, Remi Oseni as the party candidate for the senate in Oyo South senatorial seat.
He said he has also met with him and they have agreed to work together for the peace and development of Oyo state and the country.
Akinremi gave the endorsement in a statement he personally signed on Sunday and addressed to the members of his political family, ahead of the Senatorial primary slated for Monday (today), May 18th.
Speaking, he said he is equally in consultation with party leaders in the zone and Senator Sharafadeen Alli as the party’s consensus candidate for the governorship ticket in the state.
He appealed to his supporters to remain calm, peaceful and remain loyal to the party irrespective of whatever happens before the primary.
He noted that although people are willing, ready for the change that his aspiration represents but thay, it is not a do or die affairs for him, as his ambition does not worth any other fellow human being’s blood.
The statement reads in part, “My Dear Political family, many thanks for all your support since the inception of my political vision for Oyo South Senatorial seat on the platform of our great party, the APC.
“I am still very much in the race, so whatever plays out before the primaries on Monday 18th, May, 2026, please let us be calm and remain loyal to the party.
“God is on our side and the people are willing, ready for the change that my aspiration represents but it is not a a do or die affairs for me as my ambition does not worth any other fellow human being’s blood.
“Most of the results of the Primaries for the Federal House of Representative in our constituency were reported as inconclusive but we know that the party will resolve all the issues, primaries or no primaries. That’s party supremacy.
“Ahead of tomorrow’ Primaries for senatorial aspirants, I have given my consent to the Party decision to endorse Engr. Remi Abasi Oseni as the party candidate for the senate in Oyo South senatorial seat.
“I have also met with him and we have agreed to work together for the peace and development of Oyo state and our beloved country.
“I am equally in consultation with our leaders in the zone and Senator Sharafadeen Alli as our consensus candidate for Governorship in Oyo.
Our vision for Oyo south is intact and well protected. I will keep you all updated as events unfold.”
An unconfirmed source also said others who have been cleared to contest the Senatorial elections include: Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central)
Prof. Adeolu Akande (Oyo North), Mrs Hannah Ogunesan (Oyo North) and Col. Adegbola (Oyo North)
