The University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates Association (UIMGA) recently marked the 2025 Maolud Nabiy celebration with Muslim inmates at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan, reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace, tolerance, and co-existence within the community.

Led by National President Alhaji Abdul Mojeed Imran, the UIMGA team visited the inmates on Friday, September 5, 2025, and expressed solidarity with them during this significant Islamic occasion.

The visitors said the event was a poignant reminder of the importance of compassion and community outreach.

Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Imran urged the inmates to remain steadfast and hopeful, assuring them that their freedom would be restored soon.

He also encouraged them to reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and to emulate his exemplary life, which emphasizes compassion, forgiveness, and righteousness.

In his sermon, the National Missioner Alhaji Luqman Adebayo delivered a message, emphasizing the importance of being God-fearing and loyal to oneself and the nation.

He also highlighted the need for the inmates to seek forgiveness daily to hasten their release from bondage. His words resonated deeply with the inmates, offering them spiritual solace and hope.

As part of the celebration, the UIMGA team donated food items to the inmates, which was received with gratitude by the authorities of the Correctional Centre.

The Centre’s authorities praised the association for its selfless service and commitment to uplifting the welfare of the inmates. This gesture not only provided material support but also served as a reminder to the inmates that they are not forgotten.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by National Secretary Alhaji Babatunde Lawal who expresses appreciation to the Correctional Centre’s authorities for their hospitality.

A short prayer was also offered by Alhaji Shamsudeen Adewusi, seeking blessings and peace for the inmates and the Muslim community at large.

Through this initiative, UIMGA demonstrated its dedication to promoting peace, tolerance, and co-existence within the community. The association’s efforts to reach out to vulnerable members of society, such as inmates, reflect its commitment to the values of compassion and empathy.

As the Muslim community celebrates the Maolud Nabiy, UIMGA’s gesture serves as a reminder of the importance of community service and social responsibility, the National President concluded.
