The Deputy national chairman NALGON EMERITUS, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye (MDII), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Sunday at the age of 82.
In a statement on Monday through his media office , Aleshinloye described the late Buhari as a true democrat and a man of integrity.
“I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Ex President Muhammad Buhari. His leadership and vision significantly shaped our nation’s progress. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations.”
“Late Buhari was a nationalist and statesman whose life of service and humility was widely acknowledged. He lived a simple spartan life. His commitment to transparency and good governance is commendable.
“Ex President Muhammadu Buhari will be remembered for his courage to address the injustice against the Nigerian people’s fundamental right to vote freely to choose their leaders and for the votes to count which June 12 elections symbolised.
“He did not only recognise and declared June 12 as DEMOCRACY DAY, he also honoured the winner of June 12 who unfortunately was made to pay the supreme price of untimely death, Chief MKO Abiola, the highest national honour of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR), a post well deserved”.
“His death came at a time we are in dire need of his elderly wisdom and counsel as we navigate the most challenging pace as a nation”.
The former Algon chairman urged Nigerians especially the government and people of Katsina state to take solace in the fact that the late President left his indelible foot print on the sand of time.
The former Oluyole local government chairman further prayed for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul and for God’s strength to support his wife,Aisha Buhari, and the family in this difficult time.
