Soka accident: Death toll hovers between 10 to 15 people – Makinde

The death toll of accident that occurred at Soka area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan on Tuesday now hovers between 10 to 15 people.

The new figure is a sharp rise from the five reported by the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Corenews reports that, FRSC had on Tuesday confirmed that five persons died while several others were critically injured.

Governor Seyi Makinde gave the new update while speaking during the lying in state and Executive session in honour of the former governor, Late Omololu Olunloyo on Wednesday.

The governor who gave the figure also condoled with the families of the victims, describing the death as monumental loss.

He called on the people in attendance to observe a minute silence in honour of the victims.

Corenews reports that, the Soka axis was thrown into mourning, Tuesday morning with the death of people arising from multiple road crash at Soka end of Lagos-Ibadan highway.

It happened when a trailer was said to be reversing, hoping to enter the Expressway but was hit by another incoming trailer.

The accident involved seven vehicles including: two Nissan Micra taxi, two trucks, one tanker and two Toyota Camry car.
