Court grant bail to suspected killer of OYRTMA official

An Oyo state Magistrate Court has granted a bail, 28years old Ifeoluwa Ologbese who is facing trial for allegedly killing an offficial of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), Fabunmi Kehinde.

The incident was said to have happened at UI-Agbowo on December 14, 2024.

Ologbese was arraigned by the Oyo state government on a three-count charge bothering on dangerous driving, disobeying traffic and causing the death of one Fabunmi Kehinde.

The charge sheet reads, “That you Ifeoluwa Ologbese ‘m’ on 14/12/2024 at about 16500hrs along UI sango Road in the Ibadan Magisterial district being the driver in charge of 4matic Benz 350 with Reg No: LSD 862 JS drove dangerously without due regards to other road users, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 18 of the RTA cap 148 Vol (V) laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000;

“That you Ifeoluwa Ologbese ‘m’ on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district drove the same vehicle recklessly by disobeying traffic the light and hit one Fabunmi Kehinde who was on official duty to co-ordinate the process thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 36(i)(1) and 98 (f) Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000;

“That you Ifeoluwa Ologbese ‘m’ on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district drove the same vehicle in a dangerous manner having no regard to all circumstances of other road users and caused the death of one Fabunmi Kehinde an officer with OΥRTΜΑ Oyo State and thereby committed an offence contrary to an punishable under Section 25(1) of RTA Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.”

He pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him in court on Thursday.

The Chief magistrate, Mrs. Ogunkanmi in her ruling granted the accused bail in the sum of N2.5million and two sureties in like sum.

She said one of the sureties must own landed property within the Magisterial district, while the other must be a blood relation.

She therefore adjourned the matter till 27th of March, 2025.

In another development, a young man with black 4matic Benz, BDJ375FS, has been apprehended for directional violation (one way drive) in Ibadan metropolis.

He was also accused of harassing OYRTMA officials and will be arraigned in court.
